Feeling blue
Someone (namely ME) is doing the happy dance, I finished ALL my holiday sewing this weekend. The last thing I wanted to get done was something to put in the holiday exhibit at the Shelburne Arts Co-op. My holiday sewing does not usually entail much ho, ho, ho, deck them halls and other over the top type Christmas fabrics, I go more for seasonal/winter themes. I dugout this indigo blue fabric from my winter stash. It has wonderful but subtle metallic gold stars and swirls and this tiny light blue dot that looks like snow. WOW, this would make a wonderful fabric basket! I found a small amount of this light blue and medium blue snow flake fabrics that completed the snowy/starry theme so low and behold, I had everything I needed to make a winter themed basket. Since I had plenty of the indigo fabric, I could make a decent size blue basket, which also made me happy. What really put me over the moon was there was enough scraps left over to make a matching hot pad. I appliqued a gold star onto the hot pad using metallic gold thread which gave it that extra little sparkle and then quilted around the star. These two items will should make a nice addition to the exhibit AND I managed to avoid the red/green cliche' surrounding Christmas - YES!
