Similar but not the same

Today is the warmest day we have had so far this year and it is a delightful surprise.  I sit here typing with the window open and a warm breeze blowing on me.  Since I do not have air conditioning in my work area,  I really delight in windy days, especially when it is unseasonably warm.

The notices for acceptance into the North Quabbin Garlic and Arts Festival went out on Friday and I am delighted that I was accepted again this year.  I now have one of the few coveted artisan booths.  According to the notice, they had 65 applicants for 37 booths so I VERY pleased!   I found the e.mail from the festival on Saturday morning right after I had called my daughter and canceled our get together for the day.  I had been feeling unwell most of the week and things had gone from bad to worse by Saturday so the notice cheered me up a bit.  Sunday morning I arose with a 102 degree temperature.  Being sick was not how I had planned to spend Mother's Day.

Due to the fact that I was under the weather most of last week, it was not one of my most productive weeks.  Last month I made a market bag out of these wonderful fabrics I had found while we were in Santa Fe last year.  Here is the blog entry about said market bag   http://www.newenglandfiberarts.com/node/228.  I had also made a very large bowl at the same time.  I had been thinking about a design for another bowl and the top photo is the one I made last week.  What sometimes happens while I am working on a bowl with a certain group of fabrics, another design presented itself.  I made the bottom bowl this morning.  I separated the darker fabrics with the gold batik which created a bit more contract.  I find it interesting that I really like both of them but for different reasons.  They are definitely similar but both have a very different feel to them.  I can't wait to get back out to the Southwest in June and see what other delightful fabrics I can find!
