I'll give you the sun AND the moom
Thought I would share some of the photos I took of the balsam sachets and pillows I made up featuring the astrological fabric. Some fabrics that feature a block pattern leave room around the blocks for the seam allowance. This fabric doesn't so in order not to waste a great deal of the fabric what was going to be required is fussy cutting between the blocks and then appliqueing them. Wonder under is used to adhere the applique, which is in my opinion the next best thing to sliced bread. Once the blocks are adhered in the proper place, they then need to be applique. I find a blanket stitch works nicely. Like most electronic sewing machines, mine has about 52 million different stitches to choose from. Out of all these different stitches I think I have used about 4 of them. The blanket stitch is my favorite. I even broke out the gold metallic thread since the astrological fabric has some sparkle to it already. I unearthed some purple/metallic gold fabric which set off the purple and gold star blocks nicely.

Also in the scrap bag was a burgundy fabric which combined nicely with the golden orange fabric left over from the apron which got worked up into a 6" pillow that I dressed up with a gold metallic border (center photo). I was having so much fun I ended up making 2 more sachets. I attached ribbon to the sachets so they could be used as ornaments.
