Time out!
After the Herculean effort of my first 2 day out door festival. it was time to take a break so that is what I did last week...NO SEWING or sewing activities which includes updating my blog. Many things went undone while I was getting ready for the Garlic and Arts Festival so last week I played catch up and have also been doing that this week. Right before the festival a lovely lady by the name of Mary contacted me about some blueberry placemats she had purchased from Mainely Quilts and did I have more? Fortunately I had replenished their stock so she was able to contact them and cleaned out their stock. So, time to make more place mats. I still had some scraps left from the previous batch of placemats but saw that I needed to add a little more fabric so I purchased that at the beginning of this week. I found a nice 10" block I liked in Judy Hopkin's 501 Rotary Quilt Blocks. The placemats needed to be longer than 10" so an extension of the block was attached to both sides so when I attached the border the final placemat would be 14" X 18". I chose the light green and blue for the extension. I was pleased to see that it ended up looking just like it was part of the block. I have a couple of more placemats designed and they are all the same pattern but all different fabrics. I call these my Mix & Match Placemats. I can keep making them as long as the scraps hold out!
