Kindle Cover
My Husband has been after me for a while now to make him a cover for his Kindle. I went so far as to send away ( and pay $$) for instructions. When they came he told me it was far too elaborate for what he wanted. Both sides folder in, there was a pocket for credit cards and a very fancy closure. He wants to be able to hang on his Kindle like it is a book with a cover when he is reading. Today I found a wonderful blog http://whipstitchfabrics.com/blog/kindle-cover-tutorial/ with very simple instructions and it would end up being "book-like". The only change I made was that I didn't have any long elastic to close it with so I sewed a big button on one side and an elastic pony tail holder on the other side. Problem solved!
The other change I made was to not only pad the cover but also use some extra stiff webbing on the half of the outer cover that folds over the Kindle. Since my husband wanted it to feel like a book and he is not going to fold the cover back while reading, the left side needed to be a bit more substantial. It did add another layer to sew through and next time I make one I will add the webbing after I turn it right side out. I will slip it through the opening on the side that is left open that you turn the cover right side out through. Turning it right side out with that stiff webbing in it was a real chore!
